• Senator Barnett called the meeting to order in Dr. Albritton’s absence at 7:00 p.m.
• First order of business: Approve minutes of last meeting

  • • Senator Barnett called for everyone to break into groups for each standing committee and elect a chair.
      • Chairs do not have to be tenured
    • Chairs were elected and reported to Senator Barnett
• Fourth order of business: Old business
  • Comment: The Senate should consider looking for people to be chairman before their first meeting.
    • Sen. Barnett: At the previous meeting it was decided not to look for a chairman before the first meeting of the new school year since often we do not know who the new senators will be until that first meeting.
  • Question: Can the senate talk to the new chancellor about creating a parking garage?
• Sixth order of business: New business
  • The Provost will be at the next meeting to discuss strategic planning
  • The next meeting will be Tuesday Sept. 13 2011
