    • Faculty Senate Representative to the Strategic Planning Council (we need two additional representatives)
      • The University’s Strategic Planning Council is the University’s advisory body on institutional planning. The Council brings together representatives of various constituencies to promote a broader consideration of campus-wide strategic initiatives of major scope and importance that often include more than one

o    Faculty Senate Representative to the Energy Management Committee

  • This committee has been convened in an effort to enhance and support the university’s evolving energy management policy

o    Faculty Senate Representative to the Search Committee for the Director of the National Center for Physical Acoustics

  • The NCPA maintains basic and applied research programs in many areas of physical acoustics; provides coordination of major, multi-university research programs in the United States; serves as an advocate for physical acoustics to federal agencies and other organizations; provides significant educational opportunities for students and postdocs; and provides direct research assistance to investigators throughout the

o    Faculty Senate Representative to the Search Committee for the Director of the National Institute for Undersea Science and Technology

  • The National Institute for Undersea Science and Technology (NIUST) was established in 2002 by the University of Southern Mississippi and the University of Mississippi in partnership with NOAA’s Undersea Research Program (NURP) to develop and apply new technologies that enhance undersea research.

 

o    Faculty Senate Representative to the Scholarship Proposal Review Committee

  • This committee will work to strategically align our scholarship offerings with University priorities. The committee will work to develop a centralized “vetting” process for making decisions about new (or expanded scholarships – being aware that the financial pie is
  • This committee would review proposals for new permanent scholarships (and increases to existing award programs) from institutional sources. It is advisory in nature and would not have policy-making authority. Recommendations for funding would be provided to the Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs, Brandi Hephner LaBanc, who would make the final funding decisions in consultation with the Provost and the Vice Chancellor for Administration &
